Q: What did you learn from the seminar?

A: I gained a lot from the Y.LEAD Seminar. The event was super fun. I think that it was a good platform for me to be exposed to different cultures and interact with new people. Moreover, I learnt about the importance of effective communication and the techniques to achieve my goals.

Q: What was most unforgettable about the Y.LEAD Seminar?

A: The most unforgettable part of the Y.LEAD Seminar would be the mass games conducted during the 15 Hour Challenge. My group went to different stations to complete the tasks given to us. It was memorable as my groupmates interacted more with each other so that we could complete our tasks.

Q: Does your school host similar events?

A: I am not sure about that. My school usually hosts events for the students of our school only.

Q: How did you know about the Y.LEAD Seminar?

A: It was publicised on my school’s website and I chanced upon it.

2. An interview with local participants

Next, we interviewed two participants from Jurongville Secondary School, Hifzhan (right) and Nadhirah (left). Q: Does your school have events similar to the Y.LEAD Seminar? A: No, our school doesn’t really host such events.

Q: What do you like about the Y.LEAD Seminar?

A: We really like the way how everyone is hyped up during the cheers. Moreover, the activities and games that were organised were really good opportunities for us to bond. Another good thing is that the organisers of the Y.LEAD Seminar made the schedules very flexible.

Q: Is this camp applicable to your daily life? A: Yes. As Student Councillors, we may be planning camps in our own schools so we can learn much from the organisers of this camp.

Q: How did you hear about the Y.LEAD Seminar in your school? A: We heard about it from our seniors. The event was originally introduced to our school by one of our teachers who was an alumnus of RV. Q: Are there any requirements to attend this camp? A: It is mainly open to Student Councillors and EXCO members.

Q: What are the most memorable experiences you have had during this camp? A: (Hifzhan) The 15 Hour Challenge was the most memorable for me. Although our group quarrelled a lot, we still managed to pull through in the end.

(Nadhirah) For me, the 15 Hour Challenge was also the most memorable. We shared a lot of happy moments and laughed a lot together. We were in charge of law and enforcement and and had three problems to tackle. We learnt how to calm down a panicked crowd on a street and thought of creating a Tranquilator to solve the problem.

3. An Interview with a Group of RVians

Lastly, we will share with you an interview we had with a group of RV participants!

Q: What did you like about the Y.LEAD Seminar?

A: I liked that it provided us an opportunity to make new friends and experience other cultures! It also trained our courage and made us more inclusive. In addition, the Y.LEAD Seminar taught us important leadership skills.

Q: What was the most memorable event during the Y.LEAD Seminar?

A: It was the 15 Hour Challenge. For me, it was during the challenge that my group finally stopped feeling awkward with each other. Everyone was working together and it was really cool.

Q: What problems did you encounter during the Y.LEAD Seminar?

A: As my group had a lot of overseas participants, communication became a problem due to the language barrier. However, we helped to translate for one another so that there was effective communication.

Q: Were the activities at the Y.LEAD Seminar helpful to you?

A: Yes, especially the 15 Hour Challenge. It was the time when we bonded the most as we went through a lot of difficulties together. I’m glad that we managed to contribute by doing our part throughout the difficult experience!
