A New Beginning (Don’t Kid Yourself)
“At the end of the day is another day coming…”
New year, new me;
New year, new dreams;
New year, new challenges.
“NAH!”
New year, same lies;
New year, same mistakes.
In the end we are all but the same,
slave to our own shortcomings.
Our pathetic dreams.
Our petty lies to get better.
Our petty hatred for our fake friends.
“BUT…BUT…”
The new year ought to usher in new promises.
It ought to be full of aspiration and hope.
It should be ripe like a red apple.
Shiny like a sun-kissed pear.
It should mean that we are free.
“No,”
The badge of shame we will wear,
of the burdens of yesteryears.
