​It felt like a scene straight out of a movie - the music softly playing in the background, sitting together with you in comfortable silence. The funfair had closed hours ago, yet hours later, we still stayed put. It was as if we felt that by not leaving, time would come to a standstill. And, it did feel like so. The reality that you were leaving soon had yet to sink in and we were just...living in the moment. We always visited the funfair- in particular, the carousel. It was our yearly tradition, one that had to be broken next year. I still vividly remember my fondest childhood memories – how you would stick up for me when I got caught cutting the line at the carousel, how we would spend every last cent in our wallets to get that giant fluffy teddy bear after my incessant whining. I remember how you would grumble when you had to hoist me up to the carousel seat because I was “vertically challenged”. A statement I refuse to concur with up till today. I remember how you would rush to the carousel when the queue finally opened in order to “reserve” my favourite horse for me. Because apparently, my “short legs” couldn't get there fast enough. I remember how we had to spend hours cleaning the carousel because I spilt my soda all over the seats when my “short limbs” failed to grab the drink from you. I remember, I remember, oh I remember. And tonight, as the carousel went for its final spin and the music slowly came to a halt, it finally hit me. The next time we can ride the carousel together is...unknown. It is all dependent on you. I'll still hold these memories dear to me for years to come. The good, and the bad. And I want to thank you, for all the memories at the carousel. For giving me your unconditional love. For staying strong even when you got hit with the toughest news. Thank you for being you. We'll see each other after you kick cancer's butt.
