Y.LEADers, are YOU ready?
“成功,成功,成功!” As cheers marked the end of our second preparation camp for the upcoming Y.LEAD event, the realisation that the official event was a week away set in. The organising committee and the facilitators were anticipating the excitement that Y.LEAD would bring. On Friday afternoon, more than 100 students in the organising committee carried out the second dry-run, along with the facilitators. The dry-run aimed to allow students to find possible errors or safety hazards that could occur during the actual event. To kick-start the preparation camp, the facilitators went on learning journeys to learn about Singapore’s heritage, sports and culture. It would be their turn to take the participants on those learning journeys during the actual event. Meanwhile, the organising committee stayed in school to prepare for their respective activities. When the facilitators returned from their learning journeys, they did not seem to be tired out at all. Instead, they appeared to be have become more bonded with their families. One might have thought that they had known one another for at least a year! The commencement night was rehearsed next. Performances by ReVel Fest, an annual talent competition organised by the school, finalists drew loud and aflame cheers from the audience. The hyped-up emcees kept the audience thrilled as the next performers prepared themselves.
Emcees for commencement night dry-run
Before the commencement night ended, Wu Bang Yi, the chairperson of Y.LEAD encouraged everyone to put in their best efforts and persevere till the end of Y.LEAD. His inspiring words struck a chord with everyone who heard them: “I’m sure everyone’s tired, but who isn’t? We are all in this together, so let’s do this till the end of Y.LEAD!” The second day of the preparation camp started with the mass display. . Although everyone had to move about several times due to a shortage of manpower, they cooperated willingly as they understood the efforts made by the photography club and LCD committee to produce a better photograph. Thereafter, the facilitators played many games that strengthened their team spirit and brightened their day. Even though points were not tabulated, competitiveness still surfaced as each family of facilitators strived to achieve the best score. Thanks to the participation of the ever-enthusiastic facilitators, the organising committee was able to receive constructive feedback from the dry-runs, and was able to add finishing touches to ensure the success of their activities.
