HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!

RV celebrated the festive spring season as we gathered at the hall to catch the performances, both by our home-grown RV talents and special guest performers. Arguably, the CNY performances this year were better than ever before. As with previous years, we had the playful bantering of the hosts, the adrenaline pumping NCC FSD performance and the jaw dropping Wushu performance. But this year, RV-ians also got to see our own teachers in action, much to everyone’s delight. The Year Masters, Mr John Tan, Mr Mark Cordiner, Mr Nor, and Mr Roland Chua, had a stint at the lion dance, with their lions exchanging “kisses”, in what we assumed were blessings for the lunar new year. Unknown to many was that Ms Dawn Wong, the Year 1 House Mistress, was the person dressed up as the big head doll on stage. Mr Liu Gong Kai, Mr Yeo Cheng Rong and Mr Zhou Peng had their go on the stage as they sang 财神到, with Mr Tan Lian Seng dressed as the God of Fortune and walking down the aisle, distributing his “财”. For the finale, the Chinese department led the school in singing our favourite Chinese New Year songs, such as 恭喜恭喜. Kudos to the organising committee of the CNY Celebrations 2015 who did a splendid job, as well as the performers who gave their all to put up a wonderful show for the students, teachers and the elderly guests from the Thye Hua Kwan Senior Activity Centre. What a way to usher in the Chinese New Year! So what are your plans over the CNY break? If you’re bored, be sure to go on to wevideo.com, with a packet of Lays and a bottle of Pepsi, just as the people behind our CNY celebration video clearly did! RVSEC wishes everyone a very happy Chinese New Year! 祝大家新年快乐、 学业进步、 喜气洋洋、 万事如意!
