I Know Of A Girl

I know of a girl Whose tangerine soul was flooded a wicked black. It must be the curses and demons, she thought. But this very darkness coaxed nebulae and constellations out to dance along the cosmic belt. That enchanted the cold moon, and stilled the interstellar chaos within her. It was glowing, illuminated beauty unique to the ink-black felt.

I know of a girl With spring water coursing through her veins, and morning dew trickling down her fingers. This girl donned a flower crown, her eyes held specks of sunlight bound. She breathed life into all around her; swallows lifted from canvas into skies. Yet all she saw in her reflection by the pond, was a body ravaged by the wind and rain. She had given so much of her magic, and so much of her love, that she had none left for herself.

I know of a girl Who sang of grey mountains and lavender fields. Her voice was a ripple in still waters, ringing crisp and pure throughout the woods. Sometimes she wondered if she was doing it all wrong, when pebbles came hurtling and harsh words ensued. But see did she not, the child in her nightgown every morning, waiting for the songstress and her tune, in the oasis of lavender fields.

The first girl refers to the sky at dusk. Darkness is associated with pain and tragedy, but it also possess a special element of beauty. As Richard Evans said, "It is often in the darkest skies that we see the brightest stars." Do not be afraid of the dark, instead, illuminate your own path with your starlight. The second girl is a tree in a forest. She is so beautiful, but she has trained herself to see only the worst in her. The most selfless people are often those who forget to love themselves, those who see beauty in everything but themselves. Just why would you be so harsh on yourself? Butterflies can't see their wings, but everyone else can. The last girl is a nightingale. The nightingale's song evokes displeasure in some, who throw pebbles at her. Yet, there are others who love it, such as the child who waits every morning just to hear her sing. You won't always be able to please everyone. No matter how hard you try, there will always be someone who will find fault with you. You don't live to be a people-pleaser, so just live your life as a free spirit, because there will always be others who appreciate you for you - and they are the ones who matter.
