RV's SG50 Celebrations

VIDEO BY: OH QI EN

On the 6th of August, RV held her annual national day celebrations in school. The celebrations featured many of our talents and showcased the unity and discipline of the Uniformed Groups (UGs). It was a performance fit for Singapore’s milestone year. The celebrations started with the parade by the UGs, who marched in unison across the field and track, accompanied by the music of the school’s concert band. This was then followed by the recollections and the national day message by Education Minister Mr Heng Swee Keat. Thereafter, the UGs marched out, just as the Precision Drill Squad started their spectacular performance with rifles on the field. As most RVians hurried to the hall after the parade, the UGs gathered behind the canteen as their teacher coordinators and seniors thanked and praised them for the display. They then proceeded to the track for photo-taking before changing out of their uniforms to join their classes in the hall. At the track, SEC interviewed two flag bearers from St. John Ambulance Brigade, who shared their thoughts on the significance of bearing the flag. A fun-filled and spectacular concert followed the parade. RV’s talent groups, including Three Little Pigs, Dilys Tan Chiat, The Accidentals and Aftermath performed, together with various CCA groups. The hall came alive as the audience cheered and performers sang, danced and acted. The concert ended with a bang and lots of balloons… and the cleaning up which most did not get to see. Watch SEC’s backstage interviews with the performers, UG groups as well as RVians and teachers! The video is also available on YouTube here.
