Falling


Their heads snap up when her words are swallowed by a thunderous roar. There is massive movement on the other end of the bridge. They see the people flee. She grabs his hand. They back away, watching the cracks spiderweb underneath their feet, the ground vanishing quickly into the silken waters below. “Run!” he shouts, and they do. The high pitched keen of strained cables chase their footfalls as behind, the screams start. She screams as the ground gives way beneath her. He shouts, reaching out. But it is too late, and he is left thinking of how things fall.
